‘Her Safety, Our Responsibility: Strengthening the SGBV Response during Crises’ Podcast Series

Under the Regional Transforming Lives Programme, generously supported by Sweden Regional SRHR Team, SAfAIDS hosted virtual Roundtables focused on experiences and policy lessons on responding to sexual gender-based violence (SGBV) during crises; with delegates from Ministries of Gender/Women’s Affairs, Health, Education, Justice; and Members of Parliament, media practitioners, traditional and religious leaders from the 16 SADC Member States. The Roundtables sustained the SGBV narrative and agenda amid COVID-19, and advanced policy deliberations on prevention and the overall response to SGBV, benefitting the well-being and rights of adolescents and young people. Amongst the various outputs generated from the Roundtables, to enable continued policy advocacy the ‘Her Safety, Our Responsibility: Strengthening the SGBV Response during Crises” 6-Episode Podcast Series: The Podcast Series harvested key discussion and learning points, from the region-wide Roundtables, for strengthened SGBV policy advocacy for action across different sectors during and post COVID-19. The Series provides a context for sustaining multi-sectoral coordination and collaboration in responding to SGBV especially during crises. They motivate diverse sectors: including gender, health, education, justice, traditional, religious and media; as key constituents in framing implementation within a coordinated response to SGBV.
